Remembering the Ides of March: A Call to Action for the Modern Age

“Et tu, Brute?”

Julius Caesar’s final words have echoed through history, not merely as the lament of a betrayed ruler but as a reminder that no leader, however powerful, is above accountability.

The Ides of March, the 15th of March, marks the infamous day in 44 BCE when Roman senators, fearing the rise of unchecked autocracy, assassinated Caesar in a brutal act of political defiance.

It was not just a moment of treachery but a declaration—a message that even the most powerful must answer to the people they govern.

Fast forward centuries, and we see a similar message in the 5th of November, immortalized by V for Vendetta:

“Remember, remember, the Fifth of November, the Gunpowder Treason and Plot…”

Though rooted in British history and the failed Gunpowder Plot of 1605, it has since evolved into a universal rallying cry against tyranny, a call to expose corruption, and a reminder that the people have the power to hold their leaders accountable—not just in fiction, but in reality.

Today, in a world where leaders evade justice, governments suppress dissent, and corporations act as puppet masters, it is imperative that we do not merely remember these historic calls to action; we must practice them.

This is not about violent revolution or lawless anarchy. It is about restoring the balance between power and accountability, ensuring that leaders serve the people—not the other way around.

Whether one is progressive, conservative, or libertarian, the fundamental truth remains: unchecked power breeds corruption, and history has taught us that when leaders refuse to be held accountable, it is the people’s duty to remove them.

The History of Ousting Leaders: The Real-Life Consequences

Throughout history, the people have acted when leadership turned to despotism. Some removals were through revolution, others through democratic means, and some through sheer force of will.

Julius Caesar (44 BCE) – The Fall of a Tyrant

Julius Caesar was a military genius and a political mastermind, but his ascent to dictator for life was seen as the end of the Roman Republic.

The Senate, believing they were preventing a monarchy, assassinated him to restore balance—but in doing so, they unleashed unintended chaos, leading to the rise of the Roman Empire under Augustus.

This teaches us that while removing a corrupt leader is necessary, failing to plan for what follows leads to greater instability.

The American Revolution (1776) – The Birth of Liberty

The United States was founded on the very principle that leaders should be held accountable. The Founding Fathers, outraged by King George III’s taxation without representation and his dismissal of colonial rights, did what was unthinkable: they declared independence and fought a war against one of the world’s greatest superpowers.

The lesson? When diplomacy and law fail, the people have the right to overthrow unjust rule.

Watergate & Nixon (1974) – Accountability in Action

Unlike Rome, America has built-in mechanisms for peaceful removal of corrupt leaders. Richard Nixon, once a popular and shrewd political mind, abused his power through illegal surveillance and cover-ups.

When the truth emerged, he faced impeachment and the loss of public trust. Rather than face humiliation, he resigned. This proves that even the highest office in the land can and should be held accountable when its power is abused.

5th of November: The Shadow of Revolution

Guy Fawkes and the Gunpowder Plot were attempts to remove England’s Protestant rule, but the deeper lesson is that it became a symbol of resistance against authoritarian rule and government overreach.

Today, it represents the universal right of the people to stand against oppression. Whether through civil disobedience, political activism, or direct action, it serves as a reminder that power must always answer to the people.

How We Hold Leaders Accountable Today: A Call to Action

In an era where corruption is normalized, where politicians lie without consequence, and where the wealthy few manipulate democracy, we must return to the lessons of the past—not just in theory, but in practice.

• For Progressives: The fight against corporate corruption, endless wars, police militarization, and suppression of free speech must be met with direct action—not just voting, but mass civil disobedience, economic resistance, and disruption of the systems that enable oligarchy.

• For Conservatives: The battle against government overreach, erosion of constitutional rights, and globalist manipulation must be fought by ensuring that no politician—left or right—becomes an unchecked ruler. Small government cannot exist if leaders are not actively restrained by the Constitution and the people.

• For Libertarians: The defense of individual sovereignty, economic freedom, and the right to self-govern must not be passive. Tyranny does not just arrive in tanks; it arrives through unchecked legislation, censorship, and bureaucratic power. True freedom requires constant vigilance and resistance.

Steps to Restore the Spirit of the Ides of March

Outrage Is Not Enough – Demand Consequences

• Protests, petitions, and online activism mean nothing if leaders suffer no real consequences. We must push for impeachments, resignations, criminal trials, and mass political disruption when leaders betray public trust.

Refuse to Support the Lesser of Two Evils

• The two-party system thrives on fear and manipulation. If a leader is corrupt, do not vote for them just because their opponent is worse. Break the cycle.

Target the Financial and Corporate Enablers

• Corrupt leaders are funded by banks, corporations, and special interests. Cutting off their money supply through boycotts, tax resistance, and legal challenges weakens their control.

Restore the Power of the People

• Local governance, community organization, and self-sufficiency are the antidotes to top-down authoritarianism. When people rely less on government and corporations, their power diminishes.

The Ritual of Resistance

History is not just about actions—it is about rituals. The Ides of March was not just a political event; it was a spectacle, a moment of transformation where the mighty were reminded of their mortality.

We must bring back the ritual of accountability.

• If a leader betrays their people, they should not leave office quietly; they should be exposed, humiliated, and remembered as a lesson.

• If a government enacts tyranny, its symbols should be torn down, its power stripped away.

• If a corporation controls democracy, its influence must be shattered.

We need new traditions, new public acts that reinforce the message: NO ONE is above the people.

The Power of Remembering

To “Remember the Ides of March” and “Remember the 5th of November” is not to recall history as a passive spectator but to invoke its lessons as an active participant.

Julius Caesar thought himself untouchable.

King George III dismissed the will of his people.

Richard Nixon believed he could lie and get away with it.

They were wrong.

Today’s leaders—whether corporate or political—must be made to understand the same truth: Their power exists only as long as we allow it.

It is time to practice what history has taught us.

Let the Ides of March not just be a day of remembrance,

but a day of action.

Will you stand by, or will you be part of history?

The Spirit of Revolution: From the Ides of March to Modern Insurrection

The Thin Line Between Revolution and Rebellion

“When government fears the people, there is liberty. When the people fear the government, there is tyranny.”

— Thomas Jefferson

History is not a straight line of progress. It is a constant struggle between power and those who seek to dismantle it. From the Roman Senate’s dagger thrusts into Julius Caesar to the storming of the U.S. Capitol on January 6, 2021, the story remains the same: people will always rise when they feel unheard, manipulated, or oppressed.

But revolutions are not always righteous, and rebellions are not always just. The Boston Tea Party and the Whiskey Rebellion were born out of resistance to economic tyranny, yet so was the Confederate rebellion in the Civil War.

The storming of the Bastille in 1789 led to democracy, but the storming of the U.S. Capitol in 2021 almost undermined it.

We must study these movements not as partisans, but as historians, to understand the critical question: When is rebellion necessary? And when does it spiral into chaos?

January 6th: The Illusion of Revolution

The January 6, 2021 attack on the U.S. Capitol was the closest America has come to a modern-day coup attempt. Supporters of then-President Donald Trump, convinced that the 2020 election had been “stolen,” stormed the Capitol in an attempt to overturn the certification of electoral votes.

Many compared it to the American Revolution, but in reality, it was something else: a rebellion fueled by misinformation and demagoguery. Unlike the Founding Fathers, who sought to establish new governance based on natural rights and representation, January 6th was an attempt to halt the democratic process rather than enhance it.

Lessons from January 6th

A revolution without a plan is mob rule. The storming of the Capitol had no clear objective beyond disruption. Real revolutions create new governments; they do not seek to install one man as a permanent ruler.

Disinformation is a weapon. Every rebellion throughout history has required a grievance—but when those grievances are based on lies rather than truth, the people are fighting an illusion rather than an oppressor.

Symbolism is powerful. The Founding Fathers saw government buildings as places of debate and governance—the insurrectionists on January 6th saw them as mere obstacles to be taken by force.

The Real Question:

If progressives, conservatives, and libertarians agree that government corruption and overreach are dangerous, why was January 6th not a moment of true unity against corruption, but rather a partisan riot? Because it lacked the structure and purpose of a real revolution.

If a true multi-partisan uprising against corporate and political corruption were to happen, it would look nothing like January 6th—it would be a controlled, strategic movement designed to take power back, not mindlessly destroy symbols of democracy.

The Boston Tea Party: Economic Warfare as Rebellion

Unlike January 6th, the Boston Tea Party (1773) was a calculated act of economic resistance. The Sons of Liberty, led by Samuel Adams, destroyed 92,000 pounds of British tea in protest of unfair taxation without representation.

What Made the Boston Tea Party Different?

It was a response to specific oppression. The Tea Act of 1773 gave the British East India Company a monopoly, eliminating free trade and forcing colonists to pay higher taxes to Britain without any representation in Parliament.

It was economic, not personal. The rebellion was against a system, not a single leader. Unlike modern insurrections that seek to install or remove a figurehead, the Boston Tea Party was about breaking an unfair economic structure.

It was part of a larger, organized movement. The Boston Tea Party led to boycotts, the Continental Congress, and ultimately the American Revolution.

The Real Question:

Where is our Boston Tea Party today? If corporations, billionaires, and lobbyists are hijacking democracy, why are modern rebellions so easily manipulated into fighting partisan battles rather than attacking the real centers of power?

If we truly want change, it is not about rioting at the Capitol—it is about targeting the economic engines that sustain corrupt leadership and forcing them to listen through financial warfare.

The Whiskey Rebellion: When the People Fight Back Against Taxation

In 1791, President George Washington’s administration imposed an excise tax on whiskey, disproportionately affecting small farmers in Pennsylvania and Kentucky. This led to an armed uprising—the Whiskey Rebellion (1794).

Unlike the Boston Tea Party, which fought British economic control, the Whiskey Rebellion was against an American government imposing unfair economic policies.

It was against domestic tyranny. Many revolutions target foreign powers—this one was American farmers against their own government.

It was led by working-class people, not elites. Unlike January 6th, which had the backing of powerful politicians and media figures, the Whiskey Rebellion was a true grassroots movement.

It was crushed by force. George Washington personally led 13,000 troops to suppress the rebellion, setting the precedent that the federal government would not tolerate armed uprisings.

The Real Question:

If Washington was willing to send the army against farmers for resisting unfair taxes, why are modern elites never held accountable for economic crimes that destroy entire communities?

If working-class Americans today refused to pay unfair taxes, ignored regulations that favored the rich, and disrupted corporate monopolies, would they be treated as revolutionaries or terrorists?

The French & Russian Revolutions: The Collapse of the Old Order

Unlike American rebellions, which fought for reform, the French Revolution (1789) and Russian Revolution (1917) sought total destruction of the existing system.

The French Revolution executed its elites. The Reign of Terror saw thousands of aristocrats, including King Louis XVI and Marie Antoinette, sent to the guillotine.

The Russian Revolution dismantled the monarchy. The Bolsheviks overthrew Tsar Nicholas II, leading to the formation of the Soviet Union.

Both led to chaos before stability. The French Revolution led to Napoleon’s dictatorship, while the Russian Revolution led to Stalin’s reign of terror.

The Real Question:

Do we want revolution, or reform? The American Revolution restructured power while maintaining stability—the French and Russian revolutions destroyed everything and let chaos reign.

Would tearing down the government today lead to true democracy, or just another cycle of authoritarian rule under a new banner?

The Call to Action: What Comes Next?

Revolutions succeed when they are focused, strategic, and organized. What do we learn from these historical uprisings?

January 6th showed us what NOT to do—mob rule with no purpose leads to failure.

The Boston Tea Party teaches us that economic resistance is more powerful than riots.

The Whiskey Rebellion reminds us that the government will protect its financial interests above all else.

The French & Russian Revolutions show that tearing down a system without a replacement leads to dictatorship.

The real question is: What will OUR revolution look like?

• It must be beyond left or right.

• It must be against corporate and political corruption.

• It must be economic first, not just political.

• It must have a plan for AFTER power is taken.

The Ides of March, the 5th of November, and every rebellion in history remind us that power is never permanent—but how we wield it when it falls determines whether we create freedom or just another empire.

Will we repeat the mistakes of the past?

Or will we forge something new?

That choice is ours.

WAKE UP, AMERICA: THE FINAL WARNING

The Fight Against Authoritarianism, Oligarchy, and the Enemies Within

“The people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger.”

— Hermann Göring, Nazi Reichsmarschall

“The further a society drifts from the truth, the more it will hate those who speak it.”

— George Orwell

THE TRUTH YOU AREN’T MEANT TO SEE

America is under attack, but not from foreign invaders, woke culture, or partisan enemies. The true enemy sits in our highest offices, owns our biggest corporations, and feeds us the lies that keep us distracted, divided, and powerless.

For decades, we have watched a slow but deliberate consolidation of power by billionaires, corrupt politicians, and secretive foreign interests who no longer care about America’s survival. They play both sides, making sure that no matter who wins, they always remain at the top.

And now, the last great grift is happening right before our eyes—the transformation of the United States into a corporate-backed, authoritarian dictatorship.

Donald Trump and his allies are not running to govern—they are running to escape justice, cement their dynasty, and ensure that their power, wealth, and influence are never challenged again.

They are weaponizing religion, media, and corporate loyalty to turn America into something unrecognizable. This is not just another election. This is a coup in slow motion.

Wake up. Before it’s too late.

THE AUTHORITARIAN TAKEOVER: HOW THEY ARE SEIZING POWER

Donald Trump, his family, and his inner circle are fighting to stay out of prison, preserve their empires, and eliminate any opposition to their rule.

• 91 felony charges against Trump himself.

• Multiple fraud investigations targeting his businesses.

• Civil suits that could financially destroy him.

• Potential federal prosecutions that could result in lifelong prison sentences.

So what is he doing?

Stacking the courts with loyalist judges to block cases against him.

Spreading propaganda to convince people that any charges are “witch hunts.”

Encouraging political violence to ensure that his base will fight for him.

With his return he power, he will weaponize the government to destroy his enemies, dismantle democracy, and could try to install himself as a permanent ruler.

The Rise of Christian Nationalism & White Supremacy

History has seen this before—leaders who manipulate religion to justify their rule.

The Nazi Party used Christianity as a shield, convincing Germans that Hitler was chosen by God to lead a reborn Reich.

Now, in America:

• MAGA politicians preach that Trump is “ordained by God” to rule.

• Church leaders openly tell their congregations that voting against Trump is “against Jesus.”

• White nationalist groups are being embraced as “patriots” instead of being condemned.

• Fascist rhetoric is being wrapped in the language of “family values” and “traditional American culture.”

Make no mistake—this is not Christianity. This is weaponized religion, designed to turn faith into a tool for dictatorship.

The Billionaire Puppet Masters: The Corporate Oligarchy in Action

Who really controls America? Not the politicians. Not the voters. The billionaires do.

Trump is backed by an elite class of oligarchs who have made billions off of division, misinformation, and corruption.

• Elon Musk is using X (formerly Twitter) to spread propaganda, reinstate white supremacists, and normalize extremist rhetoric.

• Mark Zuckerberg allows disinformation to flood Facebook, ensuring that lies reach millions before being fact-checked.

• Jeff Bezos manipulates Amazon’s economic dominance to ensure that political movements challenging corporate power are crushed.

They kiss Trump’s ring because he promises them ultimate control—an America where:

  • Corporations own the government.

  • Workers have no rights.

  • The ultra-rich control speech, elections, and policies.

This is not capitalism. This is corporate feudalism. And if we allow it to take full control, we will never be free again.

The Foreign Interests Waiting for America to Fall

While America collapses under the weight of internal division, political warfare, and economic instability, our foreign adversaries are waiting to strike.

• Putin’s Russia is strengthening its influence over Trump to ensure that when America is weak, Russia will fill the void.

• China is watching, knowing that an America at war with itself will be too distracted to stop its global expansion.

• Iran and Israel, though bitter enemies, are both aware that American weakness allows them to reshape the Middle East without interference.

We are playing into their hands. The more divided we become, the easier we are to conquer.

They don’t have to invade us. They don’t have to fire a missile.

All they have to do is wait.

THE WAKE-UP CALL: WHAT MUST BE DONE

This is not about wokeness or partisan loyalty. This is about survival.

America has been hijacked by the few, while the many suffer. And unless we rise together—left, right, and center—we will be doomed to repeat the history of every fallen empire before us.

HOW TO TAKE BACK AMERICA:

  • Reject the lies. Recognize propaganda for what it is—manipulation.

  • Target the oligarchs. Boycott, resist, and break the economic grip of billionaires on our democracy.

  • Refuse to be divided. Do not let cultural issues blind you to the fact that the true war is against economic and political corruption.

  • Prepare for mass civil disobedience. If elections are stolen, if democracy is dismantled, millions must take to the streets, strike, and resist.

Demand accountability. No leader—Trump, Biden, or anyone else—should be above the law.

HISTORY REPEATS—UNLESS WE BREAK THE CYCLE

The Ides of March.

The 5th of November.

The American Revolution.

All moments when the people took power back from tyrants.

This is our moment.

Do we let a corrupt billionaire class and an authoritarian cult destroy everything America stands for?

Or do we fight back—not as Republicans, Democrats, or Libertarians—but as AMERICANS who refuse to let our nation be stolen?

The time to wake up is now.

The time to act is now.

This is not politics.

This is war.

And we will not lose.
